Samsung Exynos official twitter account is teasing its next chipset with the tagline Discover Cloud Nine with Exynos, suggesting the coming chip could be a part of the Exynos 9 series. Just like the Snapdragon 835, this chip should be manufactured using Samsung’s ten nm process, although other specifications are presently unknown. If we go by info available for the Exynos 8895 then the Exynos 9 chipset might have the GPU named Mali-G71 that offers advantages in VR (Virtual Reality) content and 4K. Once it comes to performance, the Exynos 9 SoC should surpass or match the Snapdragon 835 whereas generating less heat at the same frequencies.

Of course, nothing is confirmed yet and there has not precisely been a lot of information out there regarding Samsung’s upcoming flagship SoC. Stepping the version number up to nine does make sense given the chip will power a very important smartphone just like the Galaxy S8 and it'll be terribly interesting to examine what Samsung has been working on to take on Qualcomm’s 835.
